The Dual Company is one of the first audio manufacturers to incorporate the Microsoft PlaysForSure technology into a head unit, which allows full car integration of your MP3 players and IPod.
The Dual display head unit allows you to easily maneuver through menus for artists, songs, albums, genres, and playlists. In order to avoid huge mix-ups, the Dual adapter copies the exact file structure from the MP3 player, so there is no delay time while you’re browsing for music. If you’re looking to buy a Dual head unit you can use them with the EAUSB20 adapter made by Dual, but in or to use the head unit with an MP3 player, the player must support the Microsoft PlaysForSure platform.
Dual just released the XDMA690; this head unit gives you full control of your car-stereo iPod. The head unit features a single-DIN garden-variety that you can use to control streamed audio from your iPod. The head unit has all the same iPod controls (except Shuffle) which you can program by the buttons on the faceplate, with artist, playlist, song title, and album, all showing up on the head unit’s black and white display.
The Dual XDMA690 comes complete with a 2-meter iPod interface cable, and will allow you the option of playing MP3’s, WMA-encoded discs and CDs. You can purchase this unit for a little less than $450.
