Loyal iPod users are known to take their iPod with them everywhere they go; to the gym, out for a walk, on their way to work, waiting at the airport, or just driving in their car. This extreme loyalty has encouraged Apple to devise new ways to attach your iPods for the ultimate in listening pleasure.
A few years ago car stereo manufacturers developed an iPod connector that was used by simply attaching it to your cassette adapter or through a FM transponder. While neither of these methods requires any installation, you are not always guaranteed quality sound and the cassette adapters involve the ‘chew up risk’ and are not compatible with newer car models.
Thanks to modern technology there are now newer alternatives and you can now connect you iPod to your car stereo by using a dock connector.
Alpine mobile audio specialists first developed a car stereo system that enabled you to connect and control you iPod portable music player from your car stereo sound system. Keeping up with the times, Alpine was the first to develop a head unit that could with iPod control’s through the use of the inter-face adapter KCA-420i. Alpine’s strategy is part of the company’s plan to design groundbreaking in-vehicle systems that are user friendly and deliver great sound in your mobile surroundings.
Alpine is not the only company that is trying to keep up with the iPod car stereo revolution. Clarion developed a headset unit that has a direct iPod interface with similar iPod controls that are displayed on a touch screen that is 7′ and connects through a dock unit.
These new features offered by the many competitive car audio manufacturers give you the option of controlling your iPod car stereo system while driving without having to scramble around for your iPod. Some companies have even teamed up with car manufacturers to incorporate iPod control capability built right in to your cars steering wheel.
With the release of Apple’s newest edition, the IPhone, it won’t be long before Apple iPod comes up with some way to replace your original stereo with an Apple iPod car stereo, no connectors involved.
