When going digital, no matter what type of device you use, you have a few options as to how to connect your mp3 player to your car stereo. There is a wide selection of adapters to choose from that will allow you to transfer mp3 files to your car stereo.

- Use a Changer or Stereo that is directly compatible with WMA mp3, or AAC-encoded CD-R/RW’s.

- Use an adapter to connect your mp3 directly to your car stereo which allows you to listen to the music via your car speakers and sometimes let you playback music through the radio.

- Use a compatible mp3 car stereo that allows you to transfer files through the use of a memory stick, SD card, or some other removable storage device.

- Use a stereo that comes with built-in memory; you can store your songs directly onto a flash memory or hard drive.

Many of the newer car stereo’s today are mp3 compatible, so if you’ve downloaded a lot of your favorite songs onto CD-R/RW discs your best bet is to get a new stereo that’s compatible or use a changer with your current car stereo.

If you have a portable mp3 player, such as an IPod, you might want to consider using an adapter that hooks up to your stereo.

The use of an auxiliary input jack is another option if your car stereo has one. Simply run a line from your mp3 player to your line-out jack and the stereo’s aux-in and you’re good to go.

For those of you who have Blue tooth capability you might be able to use a wireless adapter, which depends on your car audio manufacturer.

The easiest way to get digital music to your mp3 car stereo is through memory sticks and SD cards. There small, convenient, and easy to use. They one drawback with this method is that you have to have a stereo with an USB input either on the front or the back of the stereo system. You also have to make sure that your audio system is compatible with the memory card format.

There are many digital options to choose from, it’s just a matter of what works best for you. No matter what route you decide to go, you can’t beat listening to your own private library in the comforts of your car.
